From Wikipedia: Automaton: a self-operating machine. The word is sometimes used to describe a robot, more specifically an autonomous robot.

I've been pushing around ideas in this vein for the past few days/week...and doing some research on the net and through my own collection of books and archived material for a small project that I and a friend are trying to flesh out. Here are some interesting pics I've gathered along the way.

Some of the images below include Bishop from the movie Aliens, also is an android of Phillip K. Dick...who wrote the book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" which was later adapted into the movie Blade Runner. Star Trek TNG's Data and finally an android that was built in S. Korea called Ever-1...she can make eye contact and carry a conversation and emote various emotions.

I wanted to include pics of Mr. Lincoln from Disney but I couldn't find pics that I liked. So there wasn't much content to this post but eh...maybe next time.

I didn't realize this post had no text...so here it is. This is a figure I picked up for $4...can't beat that. Admittedly I would have prefered a Superman or Batman...sadly Aquaman got settled upon again. I remember watching Super Friends as a kid on cable and all of them rushing out to deal with whatever calamity was at hand...but unless it was some kind of ocean themed disaster or monster/villain...Aquaman never got to go along. Since of course why bring him along...his powers only work under the sea! So I have a vision of him sitting in front of that huge display screen watching all the action from the Hall of Justice...poor Aquaman... :( I guess that's why he isn't even invited to join the Justice League cartoon...he's the strange King of Atlantis. :P But I digress... The figure is obviously from Alex Ross' Kingdom Come. It's an incredible sculpt and a very dramatic piece...I tend to shy away from most "action figures," but I couldn't pass this up 1st of all because of the price but 2nd because of it's general rarity. It's exactly the kind of off the wall choice I'd make. I've always been fond of Aquaman...I think the best series he had was the old Filmation series from the 70's...with Aqualad and their trusty seahorse mounts Storm and Imp and not to forget their walrus companion Tusky. It's a fun series with very short episodes that are done well...I think I saw them as a kid on local cable in southern california...I've done some research and they are available on DVD. At any rate...back to the Kingdom Come figure....the articulation is pretty low, with just the shoulders wrists, waist, neck and hips...sometimes I wonder why even bother articulating them if that's the direction they go in. The other thing is he has a tunic and a cape...2 other points that I hate in "action figures" for the simple fact that they are usually done very poorly....but this is just not he case with Aquaman. His accessories are well done...the sword unsheaths from it's scabard and the staff/trident is detailed nicely...a bit on the flimsy side but it is just a sliver of plastic so yeah. Overall it's a well done job, which I've come to expect from alot of the DC direct figures taht I've been able to get my hands on. I think I'm going to search out the other figures and see what comes up. I originally passed on these since their going price was so inflated because of the instant popularity of Alex Ross' work. Some time has passed since and perhaps the demand and price has gone down...I did a search earlier on EvilBay and found several for under the $20 mark...which is not great but not bad. But we'll see how that goes...until next time.

War of the Worlds Mockumentary...and asstd images...good dick...

I found this article interesting. Talks about a revamping of an older mockmentary about H. G. Wells' War of the Worlds. In my opinion the Hollywood movies that have been produced have fallen short..far far short from making the kind of impact that they could have made were they set in the era that Wells' set his original story.

Lastly...I watched a movie on netflix the other day called "Good Dick." It's an independent film that IFC raves about...I liked it after watching it at the time...but now in retrospect I'm not sure where I stand on it. So yeah...until next time.

Gotham by Gaslight...Napoleon Kong...

These are just some fun images I bookmarked on the net. First off is a cg pic of something from Mike Mignola's Gotham by Gaslight, which is an alternate timeline story based around the Batman universe...a what-if Batman existed in the Victorian era. I'm sure it's still widely available in graphic novel form from DC...so check it out! This particular image is taken from a very talented artist's blog called Insane Polygons.

The next image speaks for itself. I found this and have no idea who the gifted artist is...and my apologies for no credit given...but it is an awesome job..both in quality and in subject matter. I've always be an incredible fan of the original Planet of the Apes series. Yah they are schlocky and camp...but you gotta love the talking monkeys/apes/orangutangs! I'm not so fond of the new Burton re-make...but it's still talking monkeys so it's cool with me!

Tunnel Flushing Toy Soldiers or I've slept a total of 3 hrs in the last 2 days...with a slice of SteamPunk.

Ok...first off. Earlier this week released in the Xbox Live Arcade was the game Toy Soldiers. Basically it's a real time strategy/tower defense game based all around the theme of these toy solider play sets from around the time of world war 1. Not quite up to speed with Modern Warfare 2 or Halo 3...but the game is entertaining and fun and mind you a welcome change to the doldrum and repetition due to MW2's lack of new maps and content. The missions are straight forward and take some thought, in that you have to place your units wisely. The interface is a bit on the clunky side...but after playing it a few times it's not such an issue. The look and feel of the game is awesome...from the turning keys in the tanks to the vintage music played through the game...a nice job all around. And...yes...I've been obsessed with beating the campaign to the point that I've stayed up rather late the past few days. :S At any rate...on a scale of 1 to 10...with 10 being best...Toy Soldiers gets an AWESOME...whatever that means. But yeah...it's worth the purchase, imho.

Next on the docket is the bit about the Steampunk. I've always been a fan of the genre and recently my interest has been rekindled because of the afore mentioned game...Toy Soldiers. I admire the Victorian period and the mindbending fusion of sci-fi/steampunk is a combination that turns my imagination on end. I wanted to post some pics of past projects I've done in the Steampunk vein...but FAIL, nothing on my laptop or portable HD. So I started trying to post several images from the net from artists and sites that I've bookmarked over the years....but FAIL again...as they are not allowing their images to be shared...(even tho I'd give them full credit but w/e..) This image is from a site called NEW BABBAGE, a steampunk community. I'm not sure of who the artist is but he has done a wonderful job. I was thinking about bashing a Hindenburg Zeppelin model kit with some of the greblies that I've got lying around and trying to do my own version. But we'll see...I've got a few projects that I've shelved alrdy...but like I said we'll see.

BATMAN 3??

I was doing my morning surfing and caught the buzzline on a friend's blog that C. Nolan has started development on his 3rd installment of the Dark Knight series. It started me thinking...and don't get me wrong...I'm an incredible fan of this new franchise. BUT...I don't get the feeling that Nolan's Batman is really BATMAN. I know that this is going to come across as a fanboy rant/nitpick fest....but it's just that Batman has this otherworldly quality to me. In fact...I believe that Bruce Wayne is the alter-ego...and that Batman is the primary personality. He just uses the Bruce Wayne identity as a cover. It's where IMHO why he is so connected with the Joker and his other foes...because he recognizes that he, the Batman, is just as flawed as them...but in a positive way. Have I lost you on this? He's flawed in that the trauma of having his parents gunned down and murdered in front of him...and mind you he blames himself for it by wanting to watch the Zorro movie. (This is from his comic origin btw...which I hold as cannon.) So that guilt and the sorrow for losing them fractures his psyche in two...with the Batman persona slowly developing and ultimately taking over in the end, leaving the Bruce Wayne persona still present but in a very marginal way. So he's psychologically flawed...albeit in a non-psychopathic criminal way...but his motivation for justice is still maniacal, obsessive, ever-present and still flawed. I just don't get that in this new series...in fact, now that I think about it the Joker is not as potent in Nolan's Batman. I think Nolan misses the boat with the origin. The Joker's Red Hood origin is best...because it eternally ties the Batman and him together, (in fact in Burton's Batman the Joker says to the Batman: "You made me!") In that origin a young Batman foils a robbery attempt at a chemical plant and corners the Red Hood, (the man who would become the Joker.) In an attempt to flee the Red Hood in advertently falls into a vat of toxic chemicals and as a result is horribly disfigured, and later goes off his rocker/insane from it. So in turn the Joker holds the Batman responsible...and the Batman in some ways also holds himself responsible for not being more cautious. So therein lies this intense conflict and connection between the two. I think that that is what makes the Joker the Batman's greatest foe. Sadly all of that is just lost in this new franchise.

But, I appreciate Nolan's vision...it's not spot on and unfortunately not Batman. Maybe this comes from years of reading Batman and Detective Comics and watching all the various Batman cartoons as a kid. I know that I'm going to get slammed by alot of people for this next comment, but I liked the previous Batman series, specifically Tim Burton's first movie with M. Keaton. Yeah yeah yeah...in comparison to this new series it does suck on many levels and Keaton is too short and Burton's skewed vision is hard to swallow at times...but it worked. And the Batman's dark brooding emo/pent up controlled aggression was on the money. But to leave this on a postive note...I look forward to Batman 3 with baited breath. I know it's not Christmas anymore...but this always makes me laugh. Until next time...

This is a postscript to all this, as I am too lazy to edit it in...but interestingly enough in some origins the Red Hood, before he becomes the Red Hood is a common guy trying to support his family. He is forced to resort to stealing and like I mentioned in some origins he is the thug who kills Bruce Wayne's parents. Interesting, no? Just unfortunate all these layers of detail and interconnectivity are just lost and wasted. *sad face*

Laputa...Castle in the Sky...Flappters!

Ok here we go...I was going through my DVDs earlier this week and came across a few titles that I had overlooked and kept packed away in storage...of which Laputa aka Castle in the Sky was one. This is a Studio Ghibli production...brainchild of famed, award winning and all around visionary Hayao Miyazaki. His other films that you might have heard of are My Neighbor, Totoro (Tonari no Totoro,) Porco Rosso, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Ponyo on a Cliff. Miyazaki's vision is incredible and his story telling is such that all of his films are appealing to all ages. But back to Laputa...it's a gem of a story...all centering around this "castle in the sky." It's set in this steampunk/victorian like world...complete with massive airships and sky pirates. As always I'm fascinated with his designs and concepts for the airships and technology. It's clunky, antiquaited and credible...and not to mention sooo cool.

This is one of the boarding craft that the sky pirates use, called a flappter...inspired by the wings of a dragonfly. The first sequence in the film where these first appear is incredible!

The sky pirate's ship...the Tigermoth. I love this design...and I know that so many others have been inspired by this same design as I've recognized in so many other designs that have copied this one.

This last image is of the bad guy's ship...the Goliath, a massive beast of a ship.

I've deliberately not gone into much detail of the story and plot of Laputa, as I do not want to ruin this wonderful film. And do please seek out and watch Laputa...it's truly a masterpiece, a spectacle to behold and enjoy for young and old. Watch it and Miyazaki's other films and please let me know what you think. I assure you...you won't be sorry you did!

A friend from college has recently moved to the UK. She's got a flat in Kent or some place and is enjoying the culture change. I talked with her today and caught up over old times. She was leaving on a trip for Paris. I asked her for a souvenir and she had mentioned she was going to pick up a few for family and friends. Esp for her brother, who is also a very good friend of mine, at this store: Deroyalle. I browsed the site and asked her to put this on her list for me! ;)

Martel's Beatrice and Virgil, Batman esoterica and water babies.

Ok, PHEW! The set-up for this post took forever...but finally here it is.

First off...Yann Martel, author of the bestseller Life of Pi, has a new book coming out entitled Beatrice and Virgil. I'm an incredible fan of Life of Pi and curious to experience this new book. So it's on my list...which has unfortunately been neglected of late. I'm currently jumping from between several books, of which Life of Pi is one. On another note...I'm such a fan of the cover art for his books, especially Life of Pi's artwork. I hope to find a print one day to frame and hang. I've intentionally not mentioned the plot because I think that it's something that you have to just experience. Obviously, these are highly recommended by yours truly.

Okay...next up: Batman esoterica! I recently watched Batman Beyond: The Return of the Joker, which was a dvd release feature part of the Batman Beyond series. I absolutely love this series and the premise upon which it is based. It's all based many years in the future after the Batman's glory days...with a haggard and bitter AND retired Bruce Wayne/Batman. The long toil and abuse of his body as the Batman has taken it's toll...even with a new bionic super Bat suit...Bruce Wayne is unable to continue keeping the streets of Gotham City safe as the Batman. So Batman becomes a shadow of a memory of the past...until he is resurected by a young man named Terry McGinnis. So with Bruce Wayne as his mentor and teacher the Batman lives again. The characterizations are great in this series, absolutely fantastic. They revisit some of the Batman's old foes and introduce some new ones, all done in interesting and well thought out intances. At any rate...it got me in the mood for more Batman. I came across several things in my Bat-searching...this is a figure set of old Bruce Wayne, Terry McGinnis in the new suit and Warhawk. Warhawk being the son of Jon Stewart aka Green Lantern and Shayera/Hawkgirl. He and Terry eventually are teamed up together in the Justice League Unlimited. The figures are interesting...done in the chunky barrel chested style which is really appealing to me. They are really skant on the articulation...but I don't mind it, in fact...I prefer it with some figures. The only issue I have is with the Bruce Wayne figure...I think they could have done a better job with the sculpt job. Specifically his posture...in the series he is more hunched over and has a more haggard appearance...and the inclusion of his cane would have made him perfect. Also...the addition of Ace, Bruce's Great Dane...would have been the cherry on top. But alas...it's not so. I wanted to originally post several pics of custom figures that were fan made...but they were blocked and I did not want to infringe upon their creative efforts. (even tho I would have given them credit and showcased their visions...but whatever..blah!)

Ok...next up! Doing all that surfing I found this. A fan made resin bust of old Bruce Wayne from Batman Beyond. Awesome job! Very nice sculpt and paint job!!!

Next on the docket is: Batman: Brave and the Bold, Action League figures! Super Chunky and Blocky! AWESOME!!! My faves are Red Tornado and Aquaman...and of course, The Batman!

As I was doing all my surfing and thinking of this post. I started to think of what if they were to do a Batman Beyond movie. I think it's certainly possible and would be an incredible movie. And I think Clint would be an awesome Bruce Wayne....what do you think??? :)

An endangered Rhino on the Serengeti plains, taken from the Safari-Heli Tour chopper. Heh...actually this is a pic of model I finished not long ago...a vintage kit from Revell's Endangered Species line from the 70's..taken in the backyard. I got the kit as part of a trade at a kit show I went to a few years back. I've always loved rhinos since I was a kid and when I came across this kit it was about the time that the movie 300 came out and I wanted to do an armored/battle rhino like they had in the movie. I can't find any clear pics of it online, but I found this one of a battle rhino from the Everquest game...called a Kunark below. I started work on a saddle and some armored plating with super sculpey and 2 part epoxy but I couldn't get the look I wanted...but I went ahead and kept working on the initial rhino figure. I found some Schleich animal figures @ Target of some Meercats and I abandoned the battle rhino idea for a natural savannah setting with these meercat figures. So that's the next step. I've also found some rhino figures, also from Schleich...and they are in scale with some knight figures I have...so that might be the next project. :)

Salinger...Mass Effect 2 and RIVER MONSTERS...

Ok...here we go. Sadly last week JD Salinger passed away. I can still remember reading Catcher in the Rye back in high school and the powerful impact it had upon my life. In fact, I'm tempted to go back and re-read it now...as are many others, I'm sure...but I'm afraid it will not have the same impact as it did then. But maybe it will...I guess that's something I will blog about later...maybe. At any rate...rest in peace, Mr. Salinger.

Now on to Mass Effect 2...I can't say enough about this game. I read several reviews and they call it a "masterpiece," I wholeheartedly concur! As far as I am concerned at the point I have reached in the game I have not run into anything that I have a problem with...but I reserve the right to retract this as I have not finished the game completely. I might go into greater detail later in another post...maybe. :P

Last on the list is this video. I recently was talking with a friend about fish and aquariums and this was a video that I found interesting. It's of a fellow fish lover's Blood Parrot, named Chubbs.

Now let's see how long it takes for the next post...IF there even will be a next post. :P

Ok since the release of the new reinvisioned Star Trek movie is due out next month...here are a few things I wanted to share...

Now...I promised myself waaaay bak in 2008 that I would stay away from all the hype and leaked stuff and marketing...but I can't take it anymore... The only thing is that I have some issues with the actual ship design... :s not so hot on it...but w/e...I'm sure it will end up growing on me... Just that something about he warp nacelles...how they are shaped...that bugs the HELL out of me... Anyways...this is part of the marketing for the movie...an artist project where an artist interprets the ship in his vision... LINK.

Been busy with work and my upcoming move...but things have let up a bit and so here I am. Been making some pretty big changes and have been kinda caught off guard by a few things, but still I'm good to go. I won't really elaborate on this any more, but it's interesting how ppl can change so much in such a short time. So, heres to broken hearts !

My birthday is coming up this month and I got this as an early present from a very good friend. Lacoste Revan kicks from Kid Robot along with a Mist Face Crewneck.

I cruised into a local bookstore here called Domy Books...a really cool joint with a unique assortment of books and urban vinyl toys. I picked some of these figures from Perk Pioneer. Fukin cool design from China.

Ok...living up to my pledge to post everyday...here is today's.

Last night or rather early this morning I was getting of my Xbox36o after an enjoyable few hours of fraggin and just general mayhem, when I decided I'd log some time in the garage cleaning up and cataloging of items I am planning on selling and or donating, items running the gamut from toys to old sneakers to kitchen utensils and implements. I came across several boxes with no labels that had some slight water damage that I think occurred in my last move from parts uknown. I shrugged it off and set them aside thinking they were old kitchen items, since the box was rather light. At any rate I worked thru the early morning and got to the point that I was feeling I wanted to stop and also that I needed to replenish the liquids my body had sweated out...as the temp in somewot high. But as I was getting ready to beat it for the showers...those 2 boxes caught my eye. I took my box cutter to the packing tape seal and opened them fully expecting to see plastic cups nestled in packing peanuts...but much to my surprise and dismay I spied this!

My heart swooned and shattered in the same instant as the box was warped badly from water damage...naturally the figure was intact as prior to packing it I removed him from the very collector friendly packaging and inserted him into a plastic bag...which protected him from the water damage. Soooo as this is the case I'm searching my usual haunts for a replacement NIB (new in box)...and having no luck. I purchased this figure at a very reasonable price of $65...I've done some checkin like I said and this figure starts a $100... :( BOOOOOOOO!!!!! UGH! Anyhow...I'm guna be strong and not cave cuz I actually still have the figure...which is cool...but having the box still in mint condition would have been nice...*sad face* Here's a review of the figure that's pretty solid if u want to know more. The Medicom VCD figures are super cool and they range from star wars to disney...and some are still fairly reasonably priced if u want to pick a few up. Anyhow...I have a second post still in me...but I've got to do some work related nonsense so for now this is it...but we'll see. Peace!

Ok...I've been somewhat preoccupied in the last months and have neglected this blog which was at one time so near and dear to my heart. Ok maybe not so near and dear...but hell I liked it an awful lot. So as such I will be returning to it and with luck posting on a regular basis. (ha!) But all kidding aside...I will try to live up to a post a day...at the very least. Starting as of today...

Ok in my quest to waste and spend the whole of my hoarded and acquired wealth I have been collecting several items of interest... Those who don't kno any better I'm sure would just classify them as toys and wave them off as minor... But to me they are absolute works of art and curiously wonderful examples of design and composition. My current fascination is with Hasbro's line of Mighty Muggs. I came home from Target earlier this week after stocking up on my weekly provisions and supplies and nestled therein was Clone Commander Cody from the Star Wars prequel movies. I was going to do a little picture presentation but in my boredom during my lunch hour earlier today I came across this:

Ok...I've been on a hiatus of sorts with other projects....but I'm gonna start coming back to my360...so that's that.

Now for a little something that I've come to really enjoy. Current.com and the Current channel on cable are 2 of my current (ha! a pun!) diversions of late. If you don't know what I'm talking about check out Current.com...it's an awesome site...and if you have cable look for the Current channel....it's informative, it's fun, it's the in thing! Here's a little sample of some of the "pods" (basically that's what they call the vignettes that they show, they are usually created by just regular ppl...there are some like those of the Vanguard stuff that are like actual news/reporter created...but most are just from regular joes and janes.) BTW this pod also is a tribute to Charlton Heston who died this past weekend...regardless if you stood on the same side of the political fence with him...you gotta give him the mad props for being in so many kick ass movies. But watch the pod and visit Current.com and watch Current TV...and lastly... "Get your stinkin' paws off me you damned, dirty Ape!" RIP Chuck!

I've posted this video before...and yes, it is melodramatic. This is a pretty popular song and an even more popular vid with asian pop/mv fans ...it's just that the vid just doesn't match the song. Indulge me and have a watch and you tell me... I like the song more than I do the vid, tho the vid is touching...but it just bugs me how it just doesn't seem to jive with the story of the song... *shrug*

I've had a bit of free time lately and have been watching TV among other things to occupy that time...on several occasions I've run across Ron Howard's Da Vinci Code on cable. I'd never read the book and obviously not seen the movie when it came out...I do have it on DVD but it's one of those Dvds that I've got that has remained unopened and unwatched because of one reason or another... But I'm quite pleased with the movie and the performances...Tom Hanks and Ian McKellan are great and Audrey Tatou as well, who has always been a favorite of mine.I think that all of the theories in the book/movie are quite credible and I smell a big cover up on the catholic church's behalf. I'm not a big fan of organized religion...esp not after having to deal with catholic nun's growing up...but that's another post..heh. I've always known about the arguments and theories concerning the whole affair...and have done some research on my own. I can't say for certain either way on it...but I can say that it is surely possible that these theories are true...and were I pressed to make a choice upon it...I'd put my money on it. *shrug* Anyhow...here's a link to the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Leonnardo's Last Supper is. If you go midpage you can actually click on a link to go to a page where you can zoom in close to view the Last Supper. So watch/read DaVinci Code and have a look at the Last Supper and you, too can do your very own Grail search and make up your own mind if the true Holy Grail...the Chalice of Christ...is a cup or Mary Magdalene.

Vinyl Toy Collecting...the down low...

Ok...let me just say I was successful in finding each of the new wave 2 star wars muggs. I have 2 of the Mace Windu, but only 1 of Luke,ObiWan and 3p0. But needless to say...they will be mine, Oh yes...they will not escape me. You might wonder...why 2? Well...I guess the biggest reason is to have one to display and one to put away for safe keeping... I don't really engage in speculating for resale...but the chance is there should I wish to sell the sealed/in the box set...for naturally a premium price...in the future should I desire to sell them. But most likely I'll just keep them...I always find it hard to part with my toys...but with how these might quadruple in price..I've got a set that I could sell...if the price is right.

Anyhow...on the main event. As I mentioned in the previous post...I will give you a quick 101 on the vinyl toy collecting craze. Some people say Urban vinyl...other's just straight Vinyl...no big difference. It's a current hip thing...and it's basically just Toy / Action figure collecting, but we ain't talking about GI joe or Star Wars figures...necessarily. They can be themed anything...the Mighty Muggs down in the last post are Star Wars themed, they are also coming out with a Marvel Comics wave. Subject matter runs the gamut from cutesie to abstract obscure...even som that are artist/designer created...like the ones from Kid Robot, in fact there is a big DIY Custom sub-culture. Pretty cool, huh? It's a fun hobby...and it's hip...the figs can be pretty cheap, but some are really expensive. The Vader Kaws is a good example of one that is going to cost you some seriously major change...I got a deal on mine, but who knows how much they are going for now. But fret not...they have a lot of really affordable ones. The Star Wars Muggs are only 10 bux of pop and you can find them easy...Target, Walmart or Toys R Us... One last thing...these things range in size...from small 2 inch figs to massive 4 foot figures. Anyhow...happy hunting! :)

These are latest additions to the "Collection." Cool, huh!? They are roughly 6 inches tall and, yes, they are kind of a rip on the Munny vinyl figs from KidRobot. But who cares...they are STAR WARS!! This is wave 1...which I have multiples of...I wanna get a few more stormtroopers, tho...can't have enough stormtroopers in your army! :P Wave 2 is out, according to my pal, Jordy from Xbox Live...so the hunt continues... I am about to set out on a sortie mission now to acquire one or all of the following: c3p0, mace windu, luke skywalker or obi wan kenobi (prequel). I'll post more on the whole vinyl toy/figure scene later today or tomorrow, in case u are wondering WTF this crap is. :D

Got a email this morning from a good friend who works for PUMA. He is part of the web design/marketing department. He wished me a belated Gong Hei Fat Choi (or Happy Lunar/Chinese New Year) and said that my new year's gift would be arriving in the next few days...2 pairs of Puma shoes from the Mihara Yasuhiro collection. Which is cool cuz I'm needing a new pair of street shoes...and the awesome plus is that they are from an awesome designer, Mihara is well known in the world of Japanese design. Saves me from having to go out and put down a ton of change on a new pair of shoes! :D I've done a search on the shoes and here's a couple pics.Next up is a Puma Commercial from Asia starring the lovely Michelle Yeoh...she can kick my ass any day! Indiana Jones and the Sad Face...SAD VADER

Well, I've been busy, but I was out and about the other night and picked up the latest issue of Vanity Fair as I have not renewed my subscription. I find the magazine to be a little pretentious and snooty but the articles are actually very good...I enjoyed the interview with Julia Roberts last month... But I had to pick up this month's issue because of the INDIANA JONES article!! Yeah! Hells yeah! INDY!!! woohoo! But...before I could sit down to read through it I was made aware of a detail that has basically brought me to my knees. BTW, thanks Preston...*sigh* I confirmed it in the article and even went as far as checking it on the net...in the hopes that the Vanity Fair article was some kind of slip up from Bizarro world...but alas it was not. Shia LeButt (whatever) as we all know is in the new Indy movie...much to my chagrin...he plays a "James Dean" type character...*finger twirl* Here comes the part that stings...brace yourself...he's INDY's kid...... WTF!?! Yeah...Marion Ravenwood and Indy bumped uglies and BAM we get Shia LeBilboBaggins...(whatever) SIGH!I've rewritten this about 3 or 4 times now...because I start to rant and then get off on all these other side tangents... I'll focus and try to strike directly at the point...

I think that since George Lucas split with his wife...he's lost his sense of wonder... It seems to have wounded him so deeply that it permeates and taints everything he works on and that he feels the need to inject the real world into these fantasy worlds he's created. Look at how the prequel movies seem to totally fracture the archetypes established in episodes 4,5 and 6. And now how this is destroying everything he's built up for Indy's character. Don't get me wrong...I know that Indy is flawed and has weaknesses...I just don't think he's flawed in this way...not with how he is so disappointed in Last Crusade about how dr.Jones, Sr. was always busy with his preoccupation with the Holy Grail. The other thing is he is bigger than life, awesome at what he does and it's just plain not in his character. Lastly...this is a tale of the fantastic...why try to mirror the problems of real life in it? What's next? Maybe the next movie will be Indiana Jones and the Tax Audit? Indiana Jones and the DIY House Renovation?

Now...don't get me wrong...I'm sure this movie is still gonna kick ass...c'mon it's Indiana Jones. But is it gonna be as great as Raiders or Temple of Doom? I don't think so... And if in a couple of years I see Schiesse LeBeowolf (shia LeBeouf, whatever) in a Son of Indiana Jones movie I'm gonna commit seppuku (Japanese ritualistic disembowelment) with a butter knife....

Just for a last bit...I was browsing some of my favorites on YOUTube and I wanted to post this one. Tho, I'm not a big fan of C.Aguilera's music...I do like this song...and it's used well in this amv. Vader's tragic side is so lucid with this song. < / 3 *sniffle*

Was doing a bit of surfing and doing my daily blog consumptions...and I came across this pic. Ahsoka Tano, padawan to Anakin Skywalker in the upcoming "Clone Wars, animated series". This new series is still being worked over so now word yet on an air date. Fully CGI animated it will continue the grand army of the Republic's fight against the droid army of the Separatists.
Also...I was doing more reading about the development of the live action Star Wars TV series. Rick McCallum, whom all of you Star Wars nerds out there will recognize, is working on it...albeit still in it's very early stages of development it is a green lighted project for Lucasfilms. The series is to take place during that period of time after episode III and before IV...focusing on the rise and emergence of the Empire. I'm excited because because this is going to be an episodic TV series so that will give us the chance to really get into the SW universe...instead of having to follow the whole movie plot narrative, we can really sink out teeth into really character driven stories.

They also are talking about how Boba Fett is going to be one of the major players, which really makes sense since Lucas has always said he was sorry that he did not have the fore knowledge to know that fans would love Boba so much... And rightfully so...Boba rawks! Just look at him awesome outfit, cool guns, a job that kicks ass...what's not to admire?! All that coolness in one character and in Jedi he gets eaten by a sand monster?!!!?!?!?! ...George WTF were you thinking? Actually in Jedi we see him get swallowed by the Sarlacc (which I believe is Tatooine lingo for Sand Anus Monster) but I think that he doesn't actually get eaten...being the cool cat that he is, I like to think he escapes with one of his cool toys/devices, he's just too cool...after all who swallows these days!? :P At any rate...I hope this series takes off...and I'm looking forward to the animated clone wars 2...hopefully they won't keep us waiting too long.

One last tidbit of Lucas news...I was speaking to a friend that lives and works in the bay area in Cali. She currently is working for SONY in their PSP division...(sidebar: according to her SONY is hurting bad and is poised for sizable cutbacks and is already staffing key positions with temporary contract works...she says that SONY is really hurting from the massive popularity of Xbox360...even in Japan, but I digress...) My pal was telling me that she has been sending her resume around and has a 2nd interview with LucasARTS/Film. She says that her chances are very good to get the position...and that it will be at their new headquarters at the PRESIDIO! It's a a $350 million dollar facility........Wow, I guess with all that StarWars money there is nothing beyond Georgie's grasp! Anyhow, Good Luck Jeanne! And when you get that job...my favorite Star Wars character is Boba Fett and second Yoda...just FYI! :D And here's to snips and snails and puppy dog tails!

wow...awesome movie. I can see why people are slamming it...but for the most part this movie is awesome! I hated that I never got a good look at the "monster" and the whole shaky vid image...but I understand why it was done...and done quite well, in fact. Some really good performances and the visual effects were excellent...the thing that I'm really fascinated about is the whole biology and origins of this "monster"!! Wow...yah...on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being best...I'm gonna give this an 11. INTENSE.

Ok...wow! My 100th post... Interesting...I thot this was just going to be a fad...that I'd get tired of it and move on to the next thing. Also granted all of my posts were not very eloquent or verbose...but still... Anyhow...I find this dumb blog strangely very soothing and on some level as therapy for the bs in my life, I hope that it's also been somewhat entertaining for those of you who do actually read my rambling drivel. At any rate...this is it...#100. *yay*

Ok, now on to the meat and potatoes. I've been preoccupied lately and have missed out on the wave of friends I have that were going to see Cloverfield. My first impressions of the film from the trailer and from what I've read on the web, is that it was going to be just a standard monster movie ala' Godzilla. Well...gladly I'm wrong...so people tell me...which is a good thing because a good monster movie is hard to come by. And not to mention the fact that I really dig the cryptozoological aspect of monster movies on the whole.

WHOA!! Ok for those of you out there who are reading back and trying to analyze the $15 dollar word usage of "CRYPTOZOOLOGICAL" here's a link...but in the common man's definition it's basically the study of animals that possibly exist outside of the contemporary zoological categories. Ok, that was not very common...fine then, it's the study of monsters, ie. Bigfoot, Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster. Those are some of the famous ones...but it's not a totally bogus science...because there are some creatures that were thot to not exist such as the Platypus, Okapi, Komodo Dragon, Ceolacanth and Giant Squid. Lesson over. :P

So back to Cloverfield's monster... Yah, I'm intrigued...I got a vid clip from a colleague of mine who's girlfriend works for Tippet Studio, the special effects house that worked on the movie, and it's very sketchy on the monster...not to mention it's a tiny image that's really low res. But I've done some reading and have come across some people's interpretation of the monster...usually I hate to read stuff like this b4 I've seen the movie...but lately I don't seem to care...and this is actually really interesting shit. Here's one pic that fascinates me:I dig how it looks like a cetacean (whale) and the concept of the parasitic louse. So many of the "monsters" that come out in movies are so unispired...and it's understandable..coming up with an original and theoretically sound design is tough. I hate it when movies cop-out and the monsters turns out to be some hack job. I think the best/scariest is Giger's alien:Um...yah...were to to encounter something like this I'd shit myself.... But back again to Cloverfield...I will see it, with any luck tonight...and again with any luck I'll post on it tomorrow...and maybe upload my concept of the monster.

One last bit...I've been watching alot of anime lately...Ghost Hound is one that I am really enjoying. It's a slow start but it's worth it...a tale of ghosts and mystery. Here's a vid:

In other news...I got Assassin's Creed last night...haven't had much time in the actual game but after this post I'm gonna have some quality time with my xbox. :D Also, I've gone into the CracKED Archives and dusted off some graphic novels...Art Spiegelman's Maus I & II and also Matt Wagner's Grendel: War Child. When I've got some free time...possibly tomorrow I'll post a little about both of these classic tales. New Games! & Watchmen news!

Ok, I'm late a day...but it's cuz I got 3 new games...Stuntman: Ignition, TonyHawk's Proving Ground and MASS EFFECT. The first 2 were on deep discount...I think combined I paid like $20 for them...and for Mass Effect I paid $49.99...which was well worth it. That game is mindblowing...really worth the full price. And well deserving of all the kudos and accolades...EXCELLENT GAME!!!

Wow...well it surely has been some time since my last post that didn't just consist of a few short sentence fragments and a vid post. Indeed. Anyhow...with the past yuletide season now over and the new year a full 11 days old...things have been somewhat hectic, esp with me arriving back here from cali only 2 weeks b4 xmas. But things all went down smoothly...I got some ok gifts...the usual bland boring crap from ppl who supposedly know you the best. But I'm not complaining...it's the thought that counts and that gift receipt! Yah...I played it cool and returned all the crap only a few days ago to avoid the mad dash after xmas. Target was my main shopping desitination...funny how everyone got me stuff from target...*shrug*...which is actually cool...because I do actually like the crap at Target.
The clothing section is not terrible...I got a couple of really cool Mossimo tshirts and this blazer thing, that actually looks like something from Urban Outfitters...and only a fraction of the price at UO. I got a few other odds and ends...some of these small diecast Justice League figures...75 cents a pop on clearance. I got Superman, Batman, the Atom, Green Arrow and Green Lantern or Linterna Verde, as he's known south of the border. Upon closer inspection they are not all diecast metal...waist up they are pvc... booo! :S Oh well...they were 75% off...so what the hell. All I need to do now is find the other five, (Martian Manhunter, WonderWoman, the Flash, Dr. Fate and Hawkgirl or Chica Halcon,) and it will be a full set. I just wish they did the villans...a Darkseid figure would be awesome...
They had some Star Wars things also...but nothing that I'm interested in. I almost caved in and got the ARC starfighter...$20 also on clearance...but just the fighter...no pilots or astromech droid...boooo!! They had a TieBomber...that did have a pilot...but I hate the scale of those action figure vehicles...and I dunno...I guess I could hang it in my office from the ceiling...maybe I'll go back and get it. It was only $16...maybe... :S
I saw something that I would have thrown the cash down for but it was in someone's cart already...some woman's cart...I was tempted to do a snatch and run...but I'm not hat mean...besides her brat of kid was eyeing the damn thing the whole time as she was looking thru the barbie's or whatever.. Anyways...it was a TieTank...Lego kit...yah...I collect the StarWars Lego kits, too...but only when they are cheap...and one day when I get the time...I'm gonna build them all and have a re-enacment of the movies in my den... :D

Ok...I have been kinda busy and have been on something of a vacation...I'm not quite ready to come back...but alas life marches on. I promised myself that I'd elaborate on my earlier post on the oppression that is occurring in Burma... To the left is a pic of Buddhist monks marching in peaceful protest against the Military Junta that continues to oppress and strangle the Burmese people. But as I go over all of my info and all the sites that I have bookmarked...I'm washed over with a sense of futility. Like it's all just falling on deaf ears anyways...and the fact that there are so many countries where oppression is a way of daily life. So what's really the use? Here's a link WHITE HOUSE...basically our glorious President has outlined a methodology on how to deal with it. *shrug* IF you are interested in learning more or want to know what you can do to help just google BURMA or you can click the link to US Campaign for Burma. Lastly here's a vid on youtube from the US Campaing for Burma with Jim Carrey. (I think he's an ass...funny, but still an ass.) In the vid he talks about Aung San Suu Kyi (pictured right,) she's essentially the leader of the democratic movement...and the rightful Prime Minister of the country...and you'll learn in the vid that she won fairly and then was imprisoned by the military dictatorship, many many times, in fact. After her initial imprisonment she was released but told by the dictatorship that if she were to leave the country to vist her family, who were exiled in the UK, that she would not be able to return. Later she was denied the last chance to see her husband, who subsequently died from cancer. But this kind of oppression, however harsh, is not comparable to what others have suffered...murder, rape, enslavement... *sigh* I have 2 very good pals who are Burmese...I mourn their losses and share in their sorrow and pain. Just wanted to post these vids...from a movie I really like called: "Ils se marierent et eurent beaucoup d'enfants." The english title is: "...And they lived happily everafter." I won't bother much with the plot...but it's a romantic comedy that explores contemporary views on love, lust, marriage, infidelity, and being single. It's written, directed and acted in by Yvan Attal ...his previous film: "My wife is an actress"is also very good. The beautiful Charlotte Gainsbourg (that sexy accent and long pretty neck=GRRRR!!) stars in both films...along with a slew of very good french actors. Funny thing...as you will see in the vids...Johnny Depp, actor extraordinaire, has a small, but interesting part.

The song in the first vid is Creep by Radiohead. I like it very much...speaks to me on so many levels. Of love lost and how we all yearn for acceptance in an unforgiving world. "...it's so fucking special!"

Ok...here we go! This is gonna be a multipost...just cuz I feel like it!

First on the docket is the NEW Indiana Jones movie...I've broken my vow of staying away and not trying to discover too much...only because I hate closing my eyes every time I come across a blog/article/email/whatever that has anything to do with "INDIANA JONES and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull." I have made the promise to myself that I'm not going to try to discover the plot or story of the new movie so that it's a surPRISE!...but like I said I caved and found out basically who is and isn't in the movie. Obviously mr. Ford is returning...and doing most of his own stunts at 65 even!! Karen Allen will reprise her role as Marion Ravenhead...from Raiders. John Hurt (the guy from the first ALIEN movie who gets the facehugger attached to his face and later gives birth to the ALIEN by having it bust through his chest as he vomits blood all over the place...more recently he played Hellboy's Dad,) joins the cast as Abner Ravenhead, Indy's mentor and father of Marion...who was mentioned in Raiders. Also Shia Lebeouf as Indy's sidekick...oh yeah...you might remember him as Sam Buttlicky from the Transformers movie. (yuk...but that's an old post...)

Here are a couple interesting bits of info...Sean Connery turned down a cameo appearance, and John Rhys-Davies aka Sallah was not asked to return...BOoo! :( Lastly, Denholm Eliot aka Marcus Brody, Indy's museum contact...died in the early 90's of AIDS. :( IGN.com has info and several pics...

Next! Speed Racer Movie..here's the trailer:

Ok..hehe...that's not the actual trailer...I've heard that in some areas the trailer is playing and that it's friggin AWESOME...I just haven't been able to locate it yet on the Net. The movie is going to be stylized in a surreal anime-like world...which I think people are weary about but I'm glad that the Wachowski Bros are going in that direction, I think Speed Racer would be ruined if they tried to do it in a realistic world. *shrug* IMHO One thing I don't know about is the casting...I don't know the guy who is cast as Speed, a one Emile Hirsch and as Trixie, Christina Ricci. NO, I am not talking about the Mandalorian Bounty Hunter who turns in Han Solo, (frozen in carbonite,) to the gangster Jabba the Hutt in the Star Wars movies! I'm talking about Boba...the drink! This is nothing new in certain places...in fact...it's pretty old scene, especially here in So. Cali. But I know that there are a bunch of you out there who have yet to experience the boba, and my heart weeps for you! Basically it's a beverage...tea with milk and tapioca balls...I think it's originally from wonderful land of Taiwan. It's usually tea mixed with cream/milk, (dairy or non-dairy...your preference, of course.) Or it can have fruit mixed as well, it also comes in a icy slush form. The name "boba" refers to the actual tapioca balls, in small or large...or pearls or black pearls. In a nutshell, again it, the boba, "is derived from the starch of the cassava root. When cooked perfectly, the Boba becomes a sweet chewy ball with a gummy-bear like texture about 1/4 of an inch in diameter. Boba can be added to any drink: milk tea, smoothies, juice and coffee. Boba tea, or more commonly known as Bubble Tea, is usually a sweetened tea with a layer of dark round tapioca balls at the bottom." That's taken from Lollicup.com...website for Lollicup which is a major franchise, among many others, specializing in "BOBA." Now all that goodness is sealed into a plastic cup with a plastic film and after a good healthy shake you stab your "fat" straw into that same film and you are free to imbibe the liquid and boba goodness sealed therein.
Now it might sound weird and kinda odd...but I promise you...if it comes to your small town, hovel, hamlet, neighborhood, subdivision, area, city or province...you MUST try it! There is a menu of flavors and drink styles a mile long...here's a link! My personal favorites are Green milk tea boba and Taro Snow/slush both with the big boba! MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! It's so hard to describe...but they are soooooo good!

Since this is SoCali...and there are soooo many asians here...there are many different choices as far as the establishments which one can choose to acquire his or her boba. Lollicup is one of my favorites along with Tea Station. Tea Station is the ultimate tea house, with a massive selection of teas an other beverages...from basic oolong to hybrid fusions...and of course boba milk teas.

So SEEK out the BOBA!!!

...just a quick postscript...

Just like the Bounty Hunter, Boba drinks can be lethal! Those little globes of tapioca happiness could present a choking hazard to small children or those who are inexperienced boba drinkers. So...SIP WITH CAUTION and/or SUPERVISION!!! Now I've never heard of any documented cases of this actually occurring, but I just wanted to cover all my bases... But what the hell...be daring! be DANGEROUS! FLIRT WITH THE REAPER!! BOBA IS A GOOD THING! ^_^

Watch...

Looks promising...but I'm weary that it will only be ruined and that I will have to disassociate this movie with the book and it's original story. But I'll still hope for the best. This movie is based on the book of the same name by Steven Gould. Jumper has to be one of my all time favorite books...the original copy, paperback...that I had, I re-read to death... Story is about a kid who discovers that he can teleport. It's a pretty interesting ride as the kid grows up and starts testing his powers and starts ditching the emotional dilemmas that plague him... Action! Adventure! Intrigue! Like I said...I've come back several times to reread this book...I can only hope that the movie is half as good. It stars in the lead role Hayden Christiansen...blah...his acting leaves much to be desired...but the movie still has promise being directed by Doug Liman (Bourne Identity, Mr.&Mrs.Smith and Swingers) and with Samuel Jackson, Jamie Bell (from Billy Elliot another fav of mine) and then with two deadlies like Diane Lane and Rachel Bilson...grrrrr!! Jumper hits theaters February 15, 2008, but the original book is being reprinted along with the sequels Reflex and Griffin...which are also great! ...but you don't have to take my word for it... *que reading rainbow music*

Well...this has be an interesting time...my stay here in Cali is slowly and surely drawing closer and closer to it's end. But it's not over yet...I've decided to extend my stay by a week. I'm just hoping that I'm not going to regret that choice...my parents arrived home from their trip abroad. Yay! :S Yah...I don't think I know these people... Ever see the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers? There's a couple of them with the basic story of these alien pods taking over ppl here on earth with exact duplicates born/hatched/bloomed out of these weird pods. I think my parents are Pod People!!! I don't really want to go into details... But wtf happened to my parents!? Is this what retirement does to perfectly sane people? UGH...

On a lighter note...I've been having dinner for the past couple evenings with family,old friends and colleagues... I've delighted in both the company and friendship and the wonderful food! Last week I enjoyed Mongolian BBQ, Teppanyakki, Thai stewed mussels, Vietnamese 7 courses of beef, authentic Ramen soup, Korean BBQ and Indian Curry and Tikka. Last night by coincidence, I was invited to the same restaurant I went to on monday night with a different group of old friends...a korean place called The Tofu House. Upon my early arrival I gave my name and the number in our party to reserve a table...the place was packed even my previous time the day before...Rebbeca, the hostess, young and extremely attractive, smiled and said "Long time no see!" But I'll save that for another post! ;) At any rate...dinner again was incredible, a veritable feast for both the eyes and the palate!

They start you off with several side dishes of the best kim chi I've had in a looong while...pickled cabbages, cucumber, bean sprouts and garlic...a crispy fried fish, a dish of dried seaweed, rice and a raw egg. Then after a few moments arrives this stone bowl of bubbling broth filled with stewed silky tofu and an edible zoo of sliced beef, shrimp, clams, crawfish, oysters and mussels. You crack your egg into the broth and it cooks and simmers in this magical bowl of happiness and gastrointestinal bliss! I haven't even started about the excellent Bulgogi, which basically melts in your mouth, marinated strips of finely sliced beef sirloin grilled with onions...kinda like fajitas but sweet and spicy. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!! What's really the most spectacular thing is that you get all of this...a complete feast of Korean meats, side dishes, and regional wonders...for a measly $13!@#@? AND they are open 24/7! Gosh...I'm gonna miss this! T-T *sniffle*sob*

Incidentally...I got her email and it seems I'm going to be enjoying korean cuisine again soon! ;)

Sleeplessness...week's end...Boy in Blue, episode 3: the big baby

Well...it's 4:48am...and I can't sleep. Which is nothing new... I have been here now for nearly 4 weeks and it's been alot of fun. Last friday I went out with the old gang for dinner and adult beverages...and no designated driver for me since I'm the "out of towner guest"....I won't go into it much but I enjoyed myself enough to make me regret it saturday morning...amazing how you lose your sea legs when you don't use them often. Sake' is EVIL...

But the weather has been nice...I go for my run every morning...usually between 6 and 7am...beach and the huntington pier are nearby so I usually head in that direction. It has been quite brisk lately, but not so cold that I pass up the chance to be near the pacific. Usually I try to keep a clear mind while I'm running...to just concentrate on my breathing and planting each ....but I'm always overcome by the whole experience... More often than not...I usually begin to wonder why I left it all behind...and about how in a few days I'm going to be leaving it all behind again.... :S I'm haunted somewhat by it all...and by other things...and certain persons... They talk about how it's supposed to be so high paced and hectic here...but I don't think so. In fact, I think ppl and the lifestyle here...esp where I'm from: Orange County Beach cities, are waaaay more laid back and relaxed than anywhere I know. I think the only thing I can really complain about this time zone is the fact that when I finally log onto xbox live all my east coast and central pals are tucked in their warm beds asleep...whilst I'm ready to frag and maim... :S Note to self: If I move out here I need more Cali friends...aside from Scott's team killing arse! But out of my boredom I'm inspired to sing! I feel some Yogi Bear coming on...or maybe something sweet from Sound of Music again! LOL :P

Week's End...kinda late...but oh well...
Still in SoCali...enjoying every minute of it...the days and the nightlife! :D Gonna hate leaving...but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it... Just got over a cold...and I am kinda tired, as I haven't slept much...but it's all good. Lastly...I got Call of Duty 4 this past weekend...and I like it. It's not really my cup of tea...but I'm enjoying it all the same. I'll post my detailed highs and lows on it later... Also I have been rooting around my old haunts and re-discovered so many cool shops...the different asian restaurants/markets...Pinoy/Pinay, Seafood City, Seafood Ranch, Marukai and the Giant Robot store, etc... But I'll go into detail in another post.

Enka...it's a music genre in Japan...that is basically like country music...actually more like the blues. I was exposed to this back when I was in Junior High... a neighbor who was of japanese descent used to play this stuff all the time...at the time I was really interested in Japanese culture...(still am btw)...and was taking Japanese as my foreign language elective. When I heard it I was hooked...sometimes the stories the songs tell are really interesting...unrequited love or tragic love, heartbrokeness or some kind of lesson in every song. So like I was saying it's like country music...songs about heart break or being beaten up by life...but whatever the subject it's always a story in the form of a song. This particular song is called Amagi Goe, sung by no other but the beautiful Sayuri Ishikawa. IMHO she is the best...she has a haunting voice and her showmanship is unmatched. This particular song is one she is famous for! I love the shamisen, shakuhachi and koto in this song...(traditional japanese musical instruments.) The intro is really cool, when I hear this song I long to visit Japan...or at the very least sit and eat in the tatami room at Kinokawa! (which I might just do tonight!) :D

What I've done - Linkin Park and TRANSFORMERS!

I saw Transformers the other day on DVD and I was pleasantly surprised to find this song on the soundtrack. I just wish I could have been as enthusiastic about the rest of the movie... :( Yah...a lot of glitz and dazzle but really just didn't do it for me...and I was giving it every chance I could... Some parts were entertaining...but I think that the whole thing with multiple storylines just killed it for me...and it seems like Optimus is just a secondary character...yah I know some of u are going to say...give it a chance it's just the first movie...but c'mon this is Michael Bay and Steven Spielberg with a multi-million dollar budget...massive franchise and licensing to back it up...they couldn't make the main character the actual Transformers!? Instead of Sam Limpwicky...Witwhicky...whatever... *sigh* After watching I was excited and disappointed...kinda like how I felt after watching the HULK...well not as disappointed as I was after the HULK...but still... The potential for those 2 films...esp with Transformers...to kick ass was so great...

The All Spark Cube!?!? WTF is that?! I thought that the original storyline would have sufficed...Decepticons want to rape the earth of it's natural resources and convert it to "Energon" so they can take it back to Cybertron to take over and rule it, with the Autobots trying to stop them and preserve the Earth and save the Humans. This whole Spark Plug/Cube thing just blows to me. Another thing, coming from a design background...I wasn't too hot on the actual look of the Transformers...they look like Lego Bionicle toys...but that's just a minor point...I guess the special effects were cool....but overall...I'm gonna have to say I'm just plain disappointed....and that really pains me...like I said I really tried to like this movie. :`(

Things have been a bit hectic of late...haven't had time or rather the desire to post... But things are pretty much the same...still in cali and things are normalizing....still kinda hectic...but oh well...

**begin rant** Halo3 sux...it's offcial...I'm giving it my 100% SUCKtion award...and the same award goes to "most" of the Halo3 gamers that I've encountered. I say most because there are some ppl that play halo that are actually fun to play with...but for the most part the tards I've encountered in that game are annoying little prepubescent high pitch voiced whiners...esp in the customs games...which happens to be the only thing about halo3 that has stopped me from marching into gamestop to get a store credit on Assassin's Creed or Call of Duty 4. Yeah...the infection game is actually pretty cool...but not when you've got a game full of whining little bitches...complaining about the conditions of the game. Mind you...there are 100's of thousands of other ppl playing with rooms that they could choose to go play in. But no...they want to come into my game and ruin it for everyone else by complaining incessantly about it's too hard to do this or that or it's impossible to shoot down...blah blah blah blah... GO FIND ANOTHER GAME!!! CLOSE YOUR YAP! NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR YOUR BITCHING! *sigh* What's funny is that I'm generally pretty laid back... Bah...whatever... I think I'm going to adopt a new policy when i host games...you whine and complain...I'm just going to boot you. And if someone is reasonable...he's safe...I can understand that not everyone can like the same thing....but if he is gonna sit and ruin my good time with his vocal diarrhea...then I'm going to put my shoes on and ask him/her if he's ready to order...and show him the menu...or ask if they know the shape of Italy? It's the BOOT, for ya!!!! **rant over**

Being back home (Cali)...I was able to catch up with some old badminton friends a few days ago and play a couple hours...gosh I miss it so much! Our games weren't as intense as these rallies...but it was fun all the same! These teams are incredible...I need to practice harder and get my jump smash back! God...I love this game! And for those of you who think badminton is just a backyard past time to be enjoyed in the summer months or at the July 4th picnic...you got another thing coming... Have a watch...and enjoy!

Now this one is just for laughs....but I've been on the receiving end of a smash to the head and it's not as bad as this...but still it stings... :(

Again we return to my Retro-Crush series...growing up and watching an insanely incredible amount of old tv shows and old hollywood movies I ended up with a list of Retro-Hotties...of course...some of these Hotties are now either as old as dirt or even pushin' up daisies as worm food... But their eternal beauty and sexiness lives on forever.

First off is Barbara Eden aka Jeannie from I dream of Jeannie. She could be my Genie anyday...

Next is Raquel Welch, this particular shot is from One Million years B.C., a pretty schlocky Dino/Caveman flick...but that fur bikini really saves the movie! grrrrr!!

Sophia Loren, rawrrrr!! I loved her in Houseboat with Cary Grant...I'd go on about the movie...but I'm lazy... It is a fun movie that could surely be remade today with current actors...check it out it's really worth checking out.
